The idea this time was to make a pair of SCA legal gauntlets that wouldn't look out of place with a Norman armour- Stealth Gauntlets. These are based loosely on the Wisby gauntlets, with a minimum of fluting to be as low-profile as possible. The material is heat treated 4130 steel, .032 inches (about 22 ga) thick, and browned to resemble leather gloves from a distance. Each gauntlet weighs about 24 ounces, or a pound and a half. In contrast, the 18 ga stainless steel gauntlets that I regularly fight in weigh about 45 ounces each.... Completed December '05

The fingers and gadlings were made deep enough to transfer impacts to the weapon haft, and the thumbtips are fully enclosed. | ||
